3% Home Rehabilitation Loan

rehab.JPG (17620 bytes)HRHA offers a 3% loan to help residents rehabilitate their homes.  The program enables homeowners to make repairs and improvements to their principal residence.  Loan amounts range from $1,000 to $25,000.  Loan terms are based on the owner’s income and equity in the home.  Eligibility is based on household income and other criteria. 

Deferred Home Rehabilitation Loan

HRHA offers a deferred forgivable loan to help residents rehabilitate their homes.  This program enables homeowner to improve their principal residence.  Loan amounts range from a minimum of $1,000 to a maximum of $50,000.  Loan terms are based on household income, equity in the property and other criteria.  Special conditions exist for residents that are 62 or older and for homes in Hampton Housing Venture Neighborhoods. 

Paint Program

HRHA offers grants for Hampton residents that are in need of paint for their principal residence and qualify based on income.  This grant covers the cost of paint and paint supplies for the exterior of the applicant’s home.  Grant recipients may hire a Virginia licensed and insured contractor of their choice to perform labor.  In some cases, HRHA may be able to coordinate volunteer labor. 

Emergency Grant

HRHA offers an emergency grant to help residents make home repairs.  Examples include significant roof repairs, heating system failure, and inoperable water heaters.  The maximum grant amount is $5,000 and the applicant must qualify based on income and other criteria.

Wheelchair Ramp Program

HRHA offers grants for non-ambulatory Hampton residents that are in need of a wheelchair ramp.  This grant covers the cost of materials to build the ramp on the recipient’s primary residence.  Grant recipients may hire a Virginia licensed and insured contractor of their choice to construct the ramp or receive volunteer labor by registering on our waiting list.
